Greater Mount Salem
Baptist Church
A house known for the preached Word, the lifted voice, and a welcome that doesn't expire.
Wednesday Bible Study at 6:00 PM
Preaching the Word with conviction. Building the Kingdom with grace. A voice for this generation of the Church.
Bishop Joel Robinson Sr. was raised in a household where ministry wasn't a calling. It was the air. The youngest of five children born to Pastor Jeremiah Robinson Sr. and Lady Janice Robinson in Jacksonville, Florida, he grew up watching his father pastor and his brothers preach. Four of the five Robinson children would eventually answer the call to Gospel ministry. He resisted his own.
He met Jesus at thirteen, on September 15, 1991, and gave Him his voice before he gave Him his pulpit. By 1995 he was writing original Gospel music; in 2001 he founded the group New Vision to carry it. But the call kept coming. On April 7, 2002, at four o'clock in the afternoon, he preached his initial sermon, "I Am Chosen," from John 15:16. He has never stopped.
Today he serves as Senior Pastor of Greater Mount Salem Baptist Church and New Life Fellowship Church in Jacksonville, holds a Bachelor's in Biblical Studies from Maranatha Christian College, and is pursuing a Master's in Theology. He is the author of Growing to Be Better, a 21-day devotional journey, and a passionate teacher who refuses to confuse style for substance. He is the proud father of Tanee', Kennedy, and Joel II, and the proud grandfather of Makayla.

Growing to Be Better is a 21-day devotional journey that invites readers onto a transformative path of personal and spiritual growth. Each day explores a different theme, drawing from Scripture to provide guidance, encouragement, and clarity for the seasons life walks you through.
From self-acceptance and gratitude to overcoming challenges and practicing love, the devotional weaves reflection, prayer, and practical steps into a daily rhythm. Readers are invited to embrace a lifelong posture of growth, recognizing that becoming better is both a personal pursuit and a divine endeavor.
"Growth is both a personal and divine endeavor, a path of becoming that aligns our lives with God's purpose, day by day." from the devotional

Two Jacksonville congregations call him Pastor, and he calls each one home. If you're in the city, or simply passing through, you're welcome to worship at either house.

A community grounded in worship, formed by Scripture, and sent to live the gospel out loud.
"Feed my sheep." That's the assignment. Bishop Robinson is a shepherd before he is a speaker. Most Sundays, you'll find him exactly where Scripture says shepherds belong: with his flock. Greater Mount Salem at ten. New Life Fellowship at quarter past eleven. Two pulpits, two congregations, one calling.
